In our first visit in the area, we explored Elaionas, during the day of the flea market. It's a self organised scavengers flea market, that collects people from all Athens, and it is a meeting of commerse that extends to a cultural level, characterizing the whole event. In our brief exploration, we realised that it is an area populated by a lot of different communities such as the refugees, thar are mainly Iraqi, Afgani and Syrian, and the Roma, while there are for sure people of all nacionalities living there. In the photos below, we try to captivate the essence and the vibe of this multicultural area, during the day of this unique commercial and cultural event.  The market consists of scavengers stands that contain a collection of literally any object you can imagine. At the same time food and drink stands around the main areas give the whole market a festive character. Eleonas, with its big open spaces, is the perfect for a event like this as the market and its feeling expands all around the area, giving it the feeling of a small country village on a Sunday.
